So tonight we went on BBC Radio Five Live to talk about our top tips on how to land yourself the job as the next Top Gear Presenter. It’s the job everyone wants but how do you get it?
Well here are our top tips to creating the best possible 0’30” presenter tape:
- Talk to a real person and not the camera. Talk normally and use words you don’t usually use – don’t pretend to be a TV Presenter.
- Humour – it needs to be fun and entertaining, as that’s the tone of the show you want to work on.
- Make sure you explain who you are, what makes you different and what you are into. And don’t copy what talent already exists.
- Passion and Energy are hugely important. If you are not passionate about what you are talking about the Producers won’t be passionate about hiring you.
- Explain your love of cars and what your take on it is. But notice how this is the last point. Your interest in cars will be a given. Remember this is an entertainment show that just so happens to be about cars. So selling ‘your personality’ is going to be key.
Good luck everyone!
