TV PRESENTER SHOWREELS – THE DOS AND DON’TS!

Tuesday, 07 August 2012 14:48

Here are 5 quick top tips to the dos and don’ts of a good TV Presenter Showreel.

1.  Don’t be generic.  There are millions of generic reels out there with people all trying to be lots of different TV Presenters so they can go for lots of jobs.  Do the opposite.

2.  Don’t act the role of a TV Presenter.  It’s a common mistake – as soon as the camera is on people put on a strange voice and pretend to be a news reader from the 1970’s.  Find your own ‘voice’.

3.  Ask yourself what makes you different?  Again you need to stand out from the crowd.  So think about what makes you different and how this might help get your foot in the door.

4.  Who is your market?  Every channel works differently and every genre works differently too.  You might be the worlds best TV Presenter but you need to be marketable and there needs to be a market for you.  So package yourself accordingly.

5.  Attitude.  TV is all about team work.  You need to get on with people and also have the warmth to engage an audience.  So be nice!
