So you want to be a TV Presenter? There are so many mixed messages out there – but we are here to help. With over 19 years experience in TV, Producing some of the biggest shows, working with TV’s biggest presenters we can help.
So here are 3 top tips for you to think about:
DON’T BE GENERIC: Every presenter needs to have a USP (a Unique Selling Point). So many new presenters go on these often very disappointing presenter courses you can find online, where everyone pretends to present everything from the news to childrens to entertainment shows. You need to find a point of difference otherwise you’ll find it very hard if not impossible to get work in mainstream TV.
BE YOURSELF: A TV Producer hires a TV Presenter to bring their show to life. So your personality is key to your success. Also your hobbies, interests, background can be a reason to give you a job so make sure you explain who you are and what makes you different.
FIND YOUR VOICE: Having your own opinions and passions is great. Twitter, blogs and other social media helps you to find your voice and helps Producers understand that you live and breathe your subject. It’s also great practice with your script writing!
BE NICE TO WORK WITH: TV is a fun industry. It’s a Producers job to make you look good and there are lots of tricks we use to make you look the best you can possibly be. There is always a choice and producers will often choose to hire the person who is going to be nicer to work with – you’ve been warned!
Good Luck!
